Usage Instructions
Tired of getting busy signals when you call home? Or missing important calls when you're on the line? Hometown Call Waiting puts an end to both. Now you can have the convenience of two phone lines for the price of one, and you can be sure you get all your calls. With Call Waiting, a special tone notifies you if another caller is trying to get through when you're on the telephone. Then you can put the first caller on hold while you take the other call, alternate between the two callers, or end one call to take the other. Or you can ignore the tones all together, until the second caller hangs up.
To Respond to an Incoming Call, You Can:
- Put the first call on hold and answer the other call by clicking the switch hook.
- End the first call by pressing the switch hook to hang up. Now you can start talking to the other caller.
- Alternate between the two calls by clicking the switch hook. Both conversations are completely private.
- Ignore the tones all together. You'll hear the tone again about 10 seconds later. You can continue ignoring the tone until the second caller hangs up.
To Suspend Call Waiting Before Placing a Call:
- Listen for the dial tone.
- Dial *70. You will hear two or three short tones, followed by a steady dial tone, meaning Call Waiting has been suspended.
- Dial the number you want. When you finish your call, Call Waiting is automatically turned on again.
